Hey there Art Lovers,

My name is Lamda Mahrya. I am a Mixed Media Artist & Illustrator born and raised in Chicago, living now in Phoenix, Arizona. Forever the student, I am constantly searching for new ways to express my vision of whimsical worlds, powerful women, fascinating cultures, and boundless love. While much of my work lives firmly in the realm of fantasy and mythology, I am strongly inspired by the boldness of modern street art murals and the delicate intricacies of Art Nouveau 

With each new work, I strive to improve my craft and develop untapped skills. As those skills have evolved over more than 10 years of self guided practice and experimentation, incorporating 3-dimentional elements such as layered papers, wood, and gemstones, into my painting surfaces has become a new favorite technique. Moving forward I want my work to continue to focus on elements of duality, storytelling, and empowerment, while balancing the ideals of detailed symmetry and free form abstraction. 

As an artist, I want my creations to bring a sense of strength, pride, vibrancy, color, and joy to people of underrepresented communities. As a mother, my mission is to leave a legacy for my son which reminds him that he comes from emotionally complex, powerful beings made of love, compassion, determination, and wanderlust - so that he may one day share that message with others in his own unique way.
